Soil & Water Management Centre Developing & improving your soils |
Conference Catch-upThe Soil and Water Management Centre has worked with various organisations over the past few years to facilitate and deliver soil and water related conferences that address key topical issues. These issues often present significant challenges
to sustainable and profitable farming and only by improving our
understanding can we hope to reduce their negative impact. We have been fortunate in attracting sponsors for these conferences as well as having partners from the research community who have given freely of their time. These combined inputs have allowed us to reduce the cost to attendees as well as adding considerable value. These conferences and presentations have included: No Till report - 2015
At a conference in 2015, Dick Godwin provided
an overview of a report he had prepared on the state of "No-till" in the
UK, funded by the Worshipfull Company of Farmers. Members can view his presentation from the link below.Sustainable Soil Management - focus on spring cropping - 2016-2017This
topic was addressed at two venues over the winter of 2016-17, with
similar key papers but different farmer panels and some different
speakers. The question of "yield plateau" was addressed as well as how
to improve the establishment of spring crops on heavy soils. A new
project on soil benchmarking was also introduced. Members can see an overview and details of the conference and presentations at Harper Adams University in December 2016 as well as a summary of the key points made at the Throws Farm conference in January 2017 from the links below. | Our sponsors & partners![]() ![]() |
