Introduction to and exploration of two farms operating with controlled traffic farming systems

Sponsored by:

Registration for this event will close at the end of the day on 22nd February

09.30 Arrive/refreshments at Farm 1 (Paul Sheardown, Grange Farm, Woolsthorpe)

10.00 Introduction to this 360 ha farm which is using a
6 m CTF system. The 5-year rotation includes WOSR, rye (for AD), peas, beans and oats and includes some rotational ploughing and mole ploughing in addition to "scratch" tillage.
A dedication to blackgrass control through roguing means this farm has largely survived its rigours!

12.30 Lunch of "Bangers & Mash"
at The Chequers, Woolsthorpe, kindly sponsored by Amazone/RES Tractors

13.30 Introduction to Farm 2 at The Chequers (Keith Challen, Belvoir Fruit Farms)

14.00 Belvoir Fruit Farms, Belvoir. This 1100 ha farm is operating a 12 m OutTrac CTF system with a narrower track gauge of 2.25 m. It is in its fifth year with the combine on CTF, but other 12 m machines have been introduced more recently, e.g. Amazone Citan minimum disturbance drill and Farmet Phantom cultivator.

Mole ploughing is undertaken according to slope and a variable width subsoiler is used on some headlands and elsewhere.

16.00 Refreshments and Depart

Please make your booking before 23 February, otherwise we cannot provide you with lunch
